Josh Lay - the man, the myth, the legend

I’m Still Alive

It's been ages. New Year's has come and gone, the Super Bowl is around the corner, and Valentine's Day is waiting in the wings. Am I a slacker? Yes. Have my fans been dying for updates and perhaps going through withdrawal? Well, if by "fans" you mean my mom and dad and by "dying for updates" you mean casually checking the Web to see what their son is doing, then yes. But fear not, I am back, and I have some fun stuff to share.

Lately I have been busy being creative. As we all know, on New Year's we like to throw out some resolutions only to find we are doing the same ol' same ol' the very next week. Well, one of my goals was to try to get my creative juices flowing, and I've actually been doing that. It's been a busy month but a good one. I wrote a post for BestWeekEver.tv called "The Top Reason's Why We Want the Patriots to Lose." And though I wrote it last week, it still holds true for two more weeks, so check it out.

Also, last weekend I went to Orlando for the National Mascot Competition. I figured that while I was there, I might as well put a piece together for work. Work agreed, and the kind people at Varsity allowed me to do it. I myself came in second in this same competition a few years back, but as we all know, second is the first loser. So I was ready to see which mascot would come out on top.

While I was in Orlando—Disney World, to be exact—I saw some pretty interesting things. Like: grown men fighting over the Giants/Packers game in the All-Star Sports Resort cafeteria. A literal fight, folks. With moms and children crying and old Disney security escorting them out. Truly magical. Afterward, out by the pool, I turned to one of the guys involved in the fight and said, "It's pretty crazy in there." He replied in a thick New York accent, "That guy's f**kin' cruisin' for one!" And that would have sounded really tough and scary if the man hadn't been holding a Lilo & Stich hat. You can't be intimidating if you have just been had by ol' Walt by spending $35 on a plush hat your kid will wear only once.

So that's about it. Orlando, writing, and riding Expedition Everest three times in row in 40 degree weather. Oh, yeah, that was something else I did. Roller coasters are all good and great the first time you ride them. After that you just want to hurl on someone. Which I saw someone do on the bus the other day. Disgusting. So sorry for the long post (Mom and Dad). I will keep you posted more often. Until then, don't get hit by Cupid's arrow. Or any arrow for that matter. That's really dangerous.
